ABOUT ME

A herbal medicine practitioner with many years’ experience in practice and teaching, I graduated in 1991 from the College of Phytotherapy, and since then have treated a wide range of health problems and disorders. I am a member of the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy (CPP), one of the main professional organisations for medical herbalists in the UK. I was a co-founder of the British Journal of Phytotherapy, serving as Editor from 1991 to 1998. From 1998 to 2018 I was Senior Lecturer in Herbal Medicine at Middlesex University, becoming Programme Leader in 2010. Since 2019 I have also been lecturing, and teaching clinic, on the BSc Herbal Medicine at Westminster University.

In the herbal field, one of my specialities is the medical use of essential oils.

I have certification in endobiogenic medicine, which I have studied since the 1990s with Dr Jean-Claude Lapraz, (whose teachings I introduced to the UK in the early 2000s), and more recently with Dr Kamyar Hedayat. Currently I am President of the Endobiogenic Medicine Society (UK).

I am also a registered practitioner of Buteyko Breathing Therapy, and a member of the Buteyko Breathing Association (BBA), which provides Buteyko teacher training for healthcare professionals in the UK.

In 2018 I gained a qualification from the Institute of Functional Medicine in the US in Reversing Cognitive Decline (the Bredesen ReCODE Protocol), and am a registered ReCODE practitioner, with certification in the administration of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) test for detecting Mild Cognitive Decline.
